Thoughts

Poem written and read by Alan's Daughter Amy Heated talks Contrary Thoughts Your words ring in my ear. You taught me to be brave and live with little fear With a cheeky grin, now listen here. We knew we’d lost the fight, Because my Daddy dearest, you were always bloody right! My unique dad Like no one else You were perfect imperfection And when you disagreed with me I’d hear your loud objection Treating us like grown ups With dinner time crime reports, And don’t forget the wearing of your beloved swimming shorts! Always fun And often Mad You really lived a life. Made even extra special by your most beloved wife. And every time the sun was out you sat and soaked it up. Whilst us kids, gardened, mowed the lot, When we were done, you’d check our work and say… you’ve missed a spot! The life and soul, Your fancy dress, superb. Your speeches far too long. Trying so hard to do things right, but sometimes getting it wrong. You told me girl now toughen up this world is very harsh, And against my better judgement I took your advice at last. So Thank you Daddy for all your love For teaching me what’s right I learnt from the very best how to always win the fight.

Poem Read by his Daughter Elaine And as I sit upon my cloud and look down at the earth, I’ll watch you use my worldly goods for festival and mirth, And that will make me smile a smile and have a laugh quite hearty, To hear you say the bugger’s dead, let’s have ourselves a party!
